OffCourses

OffCourses are an important part of the curriculum in the second and third year. You will work in groups with other students on interdisciplinary projects, focusing on making, thinking and sharing. Teachers challenge you to come up with experimental and artistic answers to issues from their own practice. Many of these projects are connected to a specific place.

Experimental learning through making gives the groups innovative expertise in a broad field, for example in research on materiality and physicality, technology in relation to sustainability or art and art practices in a social, environmental or intercultural context. These joint projects combine artistic making (medium or discipline driven) with research (artistic or design research) and/or sharing (in the broadest sense of the word).

Great examples of ideas that have been developed are performances that playfully connect with audiences, animations that introduce university students to the ideas of philosophers and new (photographic) looks at life in a nursing home. Students and faculty often work closely with the Knowledge Center Art & Society and Minerva in Context during OffCourses.
